Brazilian President Lula, who attended a ceremony held in Florianopolis, observed a minute of silence with those in the area after receiving the news of the accident and said, “It is understood that everyone on the plane died.”
While residents of the area recorded the moments when the plane turned and crashed, the images showed that the plane caught fire after the accident. There were 58 passengers and 4 crew members on the plane.

According to a statement, a passenger plane carrying 61 people has crashed on the outskirts of São Paulo, killing everyone on board. Dramatic images circulating on social media showed the plane crashing and its shattered fuselage on the ground in flames.
“The airline regrets to report that all 61 people on board Flight 2283 died at the scene,” Voepass said in a statement. According to Voepass, there were 57 passengers and four crew members on board.
Emergency crews are working at the scene and an investigation is ongoing. The cause of the crash is not yet clear, as the plane plummeted 17,000 feet in a minute. According to Voepass, “There is still no confirmation of how the crash occurred or the current condition of the people on board.”
